Indication:
Arcenate 120mg Injection manages the initial treatment of severe malaria in paediatric patients. Treating severe malaria with said injection should always be followed by a complete treatment course of an appropriate oral antimalarial regimen.
Pharmacodynamics:
Mechanism of Action: Artesunate is a hemisuccinate derivative of dihydroartemisinin, which is formed by the reduction of artemisinin.
Presentation of Arcenate 60mg Injection:
One vial of artesunate for injection 30 mg, 1 ampule of .5 ml of Sodium Bicarbonate 5 % injection and 2.5 ml ampule of saline 0.9 % injection.
60 mg pack contains:
single dose vial of artesunate for injection 60 mg, 1 ampule of 1 ml of Sodium Bicarbonate 5 % injection and one ampule of 5 ml of saline 0.9 % injection.
120 mg pack contains:
single dose vial of artesunate for injection 120 mg, 1 ampule of 2 ml of Sodium Bicarbonate 5 % injection and one ampule of 10 ml of saline 0.9 % injection.
